Sure, Google can index and AI-generated content, but there are some basic considerations to this.

1. Google prioritizes high-quality, informative and relevant content, regardless of origin.

2. Don’t use AI to create content only for manipulating search rankings, as this violates Google’s spam policy and can damage your website.

3. Make sure your AI-generated content provides real value, insight, and knowledge about your target audience.

4. AI tools are not perfect. Read your AI-enhanced content and edit it for accuracy, precision, and accuracy.

5. Consider disclosing that you use AI to get things done, especially if it helps build trust and authenticity.

I started my first blog 10 years ago, in 2013, on Google's Blogspot. It began as a hobby, but I couldn't continue it. The biggest challenge I faced during that time was the time required to write blogs and articles. As it was in my school days, I couldn't manage my time to study and write blogs.

After years passed, I'm now working as an SEO strategist, and my job is to closely observe and analyze the workings of search engines and create quality content, both considering users and search engines.

Recently, things have changed due to the rise of AI, especially ChatGPT and Bing AI with internet access. Anyone can now create thousand-word articles in seconds. This is both concerning and fascinating.

Coming back to your question:

Does Google index and rank AI-generated content?

In simple terms, yes, Google will index and rank AI-generated content. Google has clearly mentioned its approach to AI content in its search central documentation that it will "Rewarding high-quality content, however it is produced ". It is clearly said that Google's ranking systems aim to reward original, high-quality content that demonstrates qualities of what we call E-E-A-T: (expertise, experience, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness). I made this conclusion based on a experiment i did with my two blogging sites

My experience on Ai content and its indexing

A few months ago, as an experiment, I started two blogs—one with entirely untouched AI-generated content and the other with AI-generated content with human editing.

Results:

  • Site with untouched AI-generated content:

On this site, where all content was generated solely by AI without any human editing, as expected, all the blogs were de-indexed.

  1. Site with human-edited, AI-generated content:

On the second site, where all content was AI-generated but underwent proper human editing, most blogs are still present on Google, with some even ranking on the second page."

in a conclusion, Google will index and rank AI-generated content but only if it follows the minimum quality and some factors like Relevance, Readability, Authority, Reliability that can only be generated by a humans touch.

Update :

I just came across this video about ai, thought I could share it here.

To my knowledge, Google indexes and ranks AI-generated content similarly to other types of content. Google's algorithms consider a page's relevance, quality, and user experience when determining its ranking in search results. The search engine's algorithms are constantly revised to enhance the quality of search results. If content generated by AI meets Google's quality guidelines and is valuable to users, it can be indexed and ranked.

We are all aware of the sharp rise in the usage of AI content in 2023. According to Google Search Central blog, Google focus on the quality of content rather than the method of writing.

You can refer to Google Search's guidance about AI-generated content

In my personal experience, Google will definitely index and rank AI content. To guarantee the finest outcomes, it is necessary to check AI material for accuracy and coherence.
