What are the advantages of Webflow over WordPress?
My website development team is recommending Webflow for our new website but many of our team members are skeptical about it. Some of the experts suggest going for WordPress instead of Webflow.
What are the advantages of Webflow over WordPress? Please share the expert opinions on this.

I have been using Webflow for the last few years and WordPress for more than 10 years. I have developed several websites using Webflow and WordPress in the past several years Let me share my experience and compare the pros and cons of both.
WordPress was founded in 2003 and is more than 20 years old as of 2024. It is a mature platform on which the majority of blogs and small business websites are developed. Website developments means WordPress to many.
On the other hand, Webflow was founded in 2013. Even though the company is 11 years old as of 2024, it became a popular website development platform only in the last few years. The company managed to raise funds from investors in the last few years and since then they started making a lot of progress.
WordPress is a PHP-based open-source platform. It was primarily developed as a blogging platform but it can be enhanced to develop complex website features using plugins. You can write your own code and customise the WordPress website. Also, you can host the WordPress website anywhere you want.
Webflow is a "No code" website builder. You can start with one of the available templates and customise the design. You don't have direct access to the code, you can't really customise the functionality of a Webflow website.
Some of the advantages of Webflow over WordPress are:
1. Webflow has a lot of intuitive templates to choose from. You can start with a template and build a new website very fast.
2. Webflow will take care of hosting and server management. You don't have to worry about solving hosting-related problems.
3. Backups, SSL, hosting, server management - all such issues are taken care by the Webflow platform itself.
4. One of the best advantages of Webflow over WordPress is its capability to keep the designs/pages in draft mode and manage versions of the page. You can restore a previous version from the backup.
5. It is very quick to get started and build a landing page or a small website. Just register with Webflow, start with a template, make your changes and get the page Live. In a few hours, you can launch an intuitive website with Webflow. I created my personal portfolio website using Webflow in one day.
6. Non-technical interface of Webflow is very helpful for non-programmers to design websites. The drag-and-drop designer provided with Webflow is very easy to use. I showed the page builder to my son and he was able to design a few pages without any technical documentation.
7. No plugins means less problems! You can design the pages and customise them using the page builder on Webflow without using any plugins.
8. Since Webflow is relatively new, the number of themes available on Webflow is far below compared of WordPress. However, the Webflow themes appear to be a lot of intuitive and appealing than the common themes available with WordPress. There are free and paid themes available. I used a paid theme called "copyfye.ai" which is a very intuitive theme with a lot of customisation options.
9. Webflow has built-in e-commerce features which are well integrated with the framework. On the other hand, you have to depend on plugins like woocommerce to build e-commerce features on WordPress.
10. Export code: This is one of the cool features of Webflow. We can use Webflow to design cool websites using its builder or from the templates. After building a website, we can export the same as HTML and host it on other hosting environments. So, basically, we can use Webflow as a tool to build very attractive websites.
In my opinion, the primary advantage of Webflow over WordPress is, that even non-technical people can use it to build beautiful websites. Its no-code website builder allows anyone to design webpages without any programming knowledge.
One of the disadvantages of Webflow is, that you may not find any agencies who are experienced in Webflow. If you are looking for Webflow website development, you may contact Webflow development agencies like SpiderWorks.
