I've been testing a few AI visibility and citation tracking tools recently because more clients are asking how often their brands appear in AI-generated answers. My impression is that these tools are useful for identifying trends, but I wouldn't rely on them as the only measure of brand visibility in Dubai.
One thing I've noticed is that different AI platforms don't always return the same responses. A brand might be mentioned frequently in one AI assistant but barely appear in another. Because of that, citation tracking tools can miss opportunities or overestimate visibility if they only monitor a limited set of platforms.
For businesses targeting Dubai, I think it's better to combine AI citation tracking with traditional SEO metrics. I usually look at branded search growth, organic traffic, Google Business Profile performance, referral traffic, and conversions alongside AI visibility reports. This gives a much clearer picture of whether people are actually discovering and engaging with the brand.
I've also found that brands with strong topical content, high-quality backlinks, consistent business information, and genuine customer reviews tend to appear more often in AI-generated responses over time. Those fundamentals still matter, even as AI search evolves.
So, while AI citation tracking tools are becoming increasingly valuable, I see them as one part of a broader measurement strategy rather than a complete solution. They can highlight trends and opportunities, but I still depend on multiple data sources before evaluating a brand's real online visibility in a competitive market like Dubai.
