Does Google have regional data centers within the UAE region like Dubai or Abu Dhabi?

From what I found, Google Cloud does not currently have a dedicated data center region in Dubai or anywhere in the UAE. When I checked their official infrastructure list, they do have a presence in the Middle East, but it is limited to specific regions like Qatar, not the UAE itself.

So in practical terms, if I choose Google Cloud today, my workloads are not actually hosted inside Dubai. They are usually routed through nearby regions such as Qatar, Mumbai, or even parts of Europe depending on the configuration and service.

What I noticed is that Google focuses more on its global network rather than having a data center in every country. Their infrastructure spans multiple regions worldwide, and they rely on high speed private networking to deliver performance even when there is no local data center.

That said, this setup works fine for many use cases. If the application is not extremely latency sensitive, performance is still acceptable in the UAE. But if the requirement is strict data residency within the UAE or ultra low latency for local users, then this becomes a limitation.

So my takeaway is simple. Google Cloud is a solid option for global scalability, but as of now, it does not offer a true UAE based hosting location. If local hosting is a must, I would need to look at providers that actually operate data centers inside the UAE.

Google Cloud does not have a data center in Dubai or anywhere within the UAE. As per the information available on their official website at https://datacenters.google/locations/, Google's data center locations do not include Dubai or the UAE at present.

A few months ago, one of our clients in Abu Dhabi area contact us to switch to Google Cloud but one of their requirements was to host the web application (their custom developed ERP software) within Abu Dhabi or anywhere in the UAE. But we could not proceed since Google Cloud does not have a data center within the UAE.

For those specifically looking for hosting providers with data centers within the UAE for reasons concerning data sovereignty, low latency, or compliance requirements, there are alternative options to consider. Here are some reputable hosting providers with data centers based in the UAE:

  1. AWS (Amazon Web Services)
  2. Microsoft Azure
  3. Khazna
  4. Tasjeel
  5. AE Server

These companies have invested in establishing data centers within the UAE, ensuring that users can benefit from hosting services that are geographically closer, potentially leading to improved performance and compliance with local regulations. It's advisable to evaluate the specific offerings and services of each provider to determine the best fit for individual hosting needs within the UAE.

We are current using AWS for hosting websites for our clients in the UAE region and it works well.
