How do I check if a digital agency in Dubai is actually Google certified and not faking it?
I am planning to hire a digital agency in Dubai for Google Ads and SEO services. Since many agencies claim to be Google certified, I wanted to understand how I can verify if an agency is genuinely certified and not simply making marketing claims.

When I evaluate a digital agency that claims to be Google certified, I do not rely on badges displayed on their website. Anyone can copy an image and place it on a webpage. Instead, I verify the claim through a few practical checks.
The first thing I do is ask which Google certifications the agency holds. There is a difference between individual certifications and company level recognition. A team member may hold a Google Ads certification, but that does not automatically mean the entire agency has special status with Google.
I then ask for proof. Genuine agencies can usually show certification records for their team members through Google's training platform. An honest agency should not hesitate to share this information.
If the agency claims to be a Google Partner, I ask for their Google Partner profile. Google Partners appear in Google's official partner directory, which allows businesses to verify whether an agency currently holds partner status. This is one of the easiest ways to confirm the claim.
I also look beyond certifications and examine actual performance. A certificate shows that someone passed an exam. It does not prove they can generate results. I ask questions such as:
How many Google Ads accounts do you currently manage?
Can you share case studies from businesses similar to mine?
What metrics do you focus on?
How do you measure return on investment?
Can you explain your optimization process?
Their answers often reveal more than the certification itself.
Another sign of credibility is transparency. When discussing Google Ads, a trustworthy agency is willing to explain campaign structure, keyword strategy, conversion tracking, and reporting methods in plain language. If the conversation becomes vague or overly sales focused, I become cautious.
I also pay attention to account ownership. If I hire the agency, I want my business to own the Google Ads account. Some agencies create accounts under their control, making it difficult for clients to verify spending and performance. A professional agency should have no issue giving me appropriate access.
One red flag I watch for is guaranteed results. Google certifications do not give agencies special control over rankings, ad approvals, or campaign success. If an agency promises guaranteed leads, guaranteed rankings, or guaranteed sales because they are Google certified, I treat that as a warning sign.
In my experience, the most reliable agencies are not the ones with the biggest collection of badges. They are the ones that can verify their credentials, provide transparent reporting, demonstrate successful client results, and clearly explain how they plan to grow my business.
A Google certification is worth checking, but I never make a hiring decision based on that alone. I use it as one trust signal among many. The agency's track record, transparency, and ability to deliver measurable results matter far more than a logo on a website.
